A presentation made at the recent Rural Media SA luncheon commemorated the historic link between the RA&HS and Roseworthy Agricultural College.
A leather bound collectors’ edition of the RA&HS 175th Anniversary History Book, “Sharing the Good Earth; 175 Years of Influence and Vision” by noted author, Rob Linn was presented by the Roseworthy Old Collegians Association to the University of Adelaide.

Rural Media SA member, Professor Simon Maddocks is about to take up the prestigious role of Vice Chancellor of Charles Darwin University in the Northern Territory.
Currently Director of Science Partnerships at the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), Professor Maddocks is also a member of the University of Adelaide Governing Council and the Menzies School of Health Research.

UniSA’s emerging journalists and communications students are being encouraged to write or produce news stories about Rotary District 9500 and District 9520 projects and have them published in the media to promote the work and projects of Rotary.
Funded by the two Rotary Districts for three years, this initiative will provide Prizes of $700 for each of the three media streams – Broadcast (TV/Radio); Press; and Online/Social Media.

All five living "Rural Media Icons" gathered together recently to witness the induction of Ian Doyle to the honoured status of "Rural Media Icon".
The "Rural Media Icons" were Angela Goode, Jon Lamb, Dick James, Norman Marston and Alan Richardson. Ian Doyle now joins this group as only the sixth person elevated to the status.

RMSA has just signed a historic agreement with the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA (RA&HS) Education Foundation. This three-year agreement provides financial support for a series of joint initiatives.
The RA&HS Education Foundation will support the awarding of a bursary during the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 years for the professional development of young journalists who live in regional areas and report for country based newspapers or media outlets. The Young Rural & Regional Journalist Professional Development Award was initiated in the 2012/13 year and this new agreement guarantees that at least five young rural journalists will receive benefit from the initiative.

Veteran RMSA Secretary/Treasurer, Bob Snewin is well known for the massive amount of backroom work he does to keep the Association running. However less well known is his out of hours role as a drummer in the rock band, The Embers.
Formed in 1964, The Embers set the local music scene alight with solid rocking music. Now aged in their 60's, the band members have come to the attention of ABC Radio's "2013 Exhumed Competition".

RA&HS President, Richard Fewster recently launched the 2014 Young Rural & Regional Journalist Professional Development Award.
The winner will receive a two-day education program designed to expose them to a choice of two-day metropolitan media experiences related to the 2014 Royal Adelaide Show. Entries opened on 1st August 2013 and will close on 30th April 2014, spanning the 2013-2014 SA Country Show season.
