Local ABC story wins National ACAJ Radio Journalism Award (July 2014)

SA based ABC Country Hour reporter, Laura Poole has won the national radio category of the 2014 Rabobank Australian Star Prize for Rural Broadcasting.

Laura’s story, “Border tension over OJD” focused on how sheep producers were coping with the contentious regulations governing how the spread of sheep wasting disease, Ovine Johne’s Disease was being controlled. The radio piece was the culmination of considerable research and consultation by Laura with primary producers, sheep bodies and state regulators about the newly introduced OJD rules. ...

SA Rural Journalist takes out nation’s top rural writing award (May 2014)

South Australian freelance rural journalist, Tom Dawkins has been awarded the nation’s top print award for rural journalism.

Tom has won the prestigious 2014 Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists’ ‘Star Prize for Rural Writing’, which includes a trip to Scotland later this year to attend the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists’ Congress. ...

SA Rural Journalist wins IFAJ "Young Leader" Award (May 2014)

South Australia-based staff writer with media company Coretext, Rebecca Jennings has been recognised internationally as a ‘Young Leader’ in agricultural journalism.

Rebecca became the successful Australian nomination for the 2014 IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders in Agricultural Journalism award, before being selected as one of 10 winners from around the world. She will now join a select group of other young rural journalists in an intensive professional development program to be held in conjunction with the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) annual congress in Scotland in September. ...

Rotary Student Journalist Prize (Nov 2013)

UniSA’s emerging journalists and communications students are being encouraged to write or produce news stories about Rotary District 9500 and District 9520 projects and have them published in the media to promote the work and projects of Rotary.
