RMC SA/NT Committee 2024-2025

Elections will be held on the night for the following positions: President | Vice President | Secretary | Treasurer | Committee Members

Proposed Constitutional Changes

There are some changes to the RMC SA/NT Constitution proposed by the current committee. In simple terms they relate to amendments to sections 14, 15 and 16 which govern the appointment of office bearers.

Please take a look at the Draft Amendments attached.

In brief, your committee is proposing:

1. Office bearers be limited to four successive annual terms
2. The committee can appoint from within its ranks, a second Vice President and define the role of that position
3. The committee may appoint another member to fill any casual vacancy on the committee

The thinking behind these proposed changes is that it's healthy for RMC SA/NT to have a turnover of people in executive positions, to ensure renewal and opportunities for members to serve and steer the organisation.

In the event that no one does step forward to replace an Executive member, members can pass a special resolution to extend that person's position.

These are important changes which will have an impact on the future of RMC, so we need the input of members at the AGM to either support, or otherwise consider such proposals.

Farewell and thanks

The other important element of the AGM will be the farewell of two long serving committee members and also our current Secretary, Caroline Winter.

Bob Snewin is retiring after decades of exemplary service as our Treasurer, and Karen Holthouse is also retiring after many years of dedicated and valued service.

Please note that you must confirm you are a current financial member of Rural Media and Communicators SA/NT to vote at the AGM (ie. have paid membership for 1/7/24 - 30/6/25)**
