SA Success in National Star Awards (July 2013)
Advertiser photographer, Tait Schmaal was recently announced as the national winner of the Production Category in the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists’ 2013 Star Award competition.
Tait’s winning photograph was of a sheep leaping across a yard in front of policeman, Chief Superintendent Fred Trueman looking for stolen animals at the Dublin Saleyard. The winning photo
was selected from a strong field of finalists submitted by Australia’s State-based rural press clubs.
The top photos in each of three photographic categories – people, production and nature/landscape will now represent Australia in the World Star Prize contest to be judged at the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists’ 2013 congress in Argentina during September
Another success at the Star Awards was ABC Rural journalist, Nikolai Bellharz for his Country Hour radio story, "Australia's wild rice may help feed the world”. While the winning story was produced during Nikolai’s time working for the ABC’s Queensland Country Hour, he has since moved to South Australia as the presenter of this state’s Country Hour.
Nikolai’s story will now compete in the radio category of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists’ competition to be judged in Argentina during September.
