Congratulations Ian Turner!

For many years Ian has been the man behind the camera at most RMC SA/NT events, capturing countless photos of our guests. But his contribution to RMC and the rural media landscape in South Australia goes well beyond that.

Originally a producer and stud sheep breeder from Kangaroo Island, Ian and wife Wendy sold the family farm in 1996 and Ian joined Stock Journal in the livestock advertising department where he remained for eight years, including three as manager.

Ian and Wendy started Superior Selections in 2003, a rural marketing and publications business with clients across Australia and in New Zealand, but Ian continued to contribute columns and photography to Stock Journal.

Ian became a member of RMC SA/NT (or Rural Media SA as it was then called) in 2003 and contributed wherever he could, taking photos from each meeting for the website and wherever else they were needed, such as the social pages of Stock Journal!

He was a judge of the Rural Photographer competition before taking on the role of convenor of the awards in 2016.

Ian stepped down from the RMC SA/NT committee in 2021, 13 years after he joined. He was made a life member in 2022.

The committee is incredibly thankful for Ian’s service to our organisation over a 20-year period, as well as his contribution to rural and regional media in SA.
